Too Hot for the Hydrangeas!

It's way too hot today for one of our favourite shrubs - Hydrangea.

Red Emperor

This one,  Red Emperor is really feeling the heat - leaves are wilted and flowers are just a bit dull.

Will give it a huge soak once the sun goes down.

Usually this one is more vibrant but then we don't often have weeks of temperatures in the high 20's.

The big blue one below (lost it's name label!) is handling the heat better although it too looks a bit dull.

Spring 2013

It's early spring! The daffodils have been flowering for weeks now.  The plums are spreading their white petals everywhere, the "Double May" is in full bloom as are the cherry trees.  The magnolias just about past their best although there are still flowers.

Time for some serious weeding now before the spring rains start and the ground becomes too wet.

Will start with re-barking the "white gate" garden - have found a few too many weeds there and a few places which could take some new cuttings I have ready for planting.
